Recall Vote Affirms Failure (This is a repost from April of last year.)
Why are you shocked that Mike McGee/Jackson Jr. won in a landslide? (This is one of those times I should have posted a blog before the results.) As I listened to talk radio today, I was surprised by how many people were shocked and stunned at the outcome of the recall election. Yes, it was a landslide -- a tsunami -- and an undeniable vote of confidence for McGee/Jackson! You expected less? You wonder how? Why? People actually asked, “What was this a vote for?”
I’ll tell you: Failure.
It is as simple as that. As a “leader,” Alderman Mike McGee/Jackson makes people comfortable with their own personal failure. For his constituents to vote against him is for them to vote against themselves.
Have you ever driven through McGee/Jackson’s district? We are talking about people who won’t even clean up broken glass from their front porch, even though their own kids play there. We are talking about school systems that are scraping the bottom of the barrel. We are talking about astronomical crime rates that lead all other districts in the city. We are talking about people who have embraced and worship the thug life.
You think I’m kidding?
It doesn’t matter to most inner city Milwaukeeans of African descent that McGee/Jackson has two social security numbers (for most people that’s a federal crime) or that he threatens people in open court or that he calls for the lynching of a colleague, etc., etc. – ad infinitum! All that matters is that Mike is one of them and that they would never ever vote against themselves. Never.
So suburbanites, don’t be bewildered. In the same way that President Bill Clinton made Americans feel comfortable with their own moral failings, Alderman McGee/Jackson makes inner-city Milwaukeeans of African descent feel comfortable with their inner thug.
Update: Congratulations Mike! This is a Genuine Milwaukee story. As Wisconsin votes for hope, Milwaukee votes to re-elect a dope.
