The desire for answers in this massacre, trying to understand why, wanting to know the reason, will drive you insane. There is no logic, no rational, no reason.
Simply put this was evil. This was demonic.
Here’s the dictionary definition of the word demon: 1) An evil supernatural being such as a spirit. 2) A fear or anxiety that torments somebody.
This guy was demented. Evil does exist, but it's neither incurable nor unavoidable! The only way to combat evil is to admit to its existence and to recognize its danger. There are no easy answers, but how can we begin to fight against something if we don't even believe it’s true?
I’ve got two books for suggested reading on this tragedy. The first is the Bible with an emphasis on the New Testament. Also take time to read People of the Lie by Dr. M. Scott Peck. His book will help reacquaint you with what many in non-western countries take for granted: pure unadulterated wickedness.
In the mean time pray. Pray for the innocent souls, for the friends and family, for the campus and for the family of the tortured soul of Seung-Hui Cho.
Evil of this magnitude is often senseless and random. The love of Christ is the polar opposite.
