I have a friend who is so conservative that I call him Captain America. He is the real deal. If you have listened to the National Conversation over the years, you have heard his voice and brilliant commentary. He sent me the following e-mail a day after Obama's historic Oslo speech.
I think this speech is historically significant, for a number of reasons; and I (personally) find the President's discussion of "just war" to be fascinating. I think President Obama's explanation of just war, and the role America plays (and has played) in the world, are likely to be the most-discussed elements of this remarkable effort.
I submit, however, that perhaps the most important thing the President said is his simple statement: "For make no mistake: Evil does exist in the world."
Much of the world denies the existence of evil (or good). If evil (or good) exists, then we each might be right (or wrong). Our actions might be good (or bad). Much of the world finds these concepts to be unacceptable. Many want all of us to be "right," or none of us to be "right;" but finds it unacceptable to suggest that anybody could ever be "wrong." That anyone could ever do "evil." Anyone ever being judged for anything is seen as repugnant.
That our President clearly drew a line in the sand, on such a historic and international stage, on this side of the cultural divide in our society, gives source for new hope.
A new source of hope? As in Hope & Change? I read these words and think, "George W. Bush." I look at who is saying it and I think, "Hoax & Chains." Am I jaded?
I invite my lefty friends to weigh in on Captain America's analysis, if you dare.
Has our president drawn a new line in the sand? Is this a newer, better hope? Does this new "Obama Doctrine" reflect a change in his ideology?
Has Obama grown a pair and morphed into Bush? Or has team Obama been reading the polls?
Whoa! "Citizen of the world" Barack Obama is getting punked... by the world! LOL!
I can hear the Europeans now... "But you promised..."
"US President Barack Obama came to office promising hope and change. But on climate change, he has followed in the footsteps of his predecessor George W. Bush. Now, should the climate summit in Copenhagen fail, the blame will lie squarely with Obama." -Spiegel Online
Good morning European lefties! Now that you are emerging from your Rip Van Winkle slumber, let me clue you in on something... The president you love is no leader! He's never lead anything. You should have looked for a record of accomplishment or at least considered his opponents criticisms before you sipped the euphoria lased Kool-Aid...
Barack Obama: All flash! No substance. Good morning...
"It turns out the Chinese are kind of curious about how President Barack Obama’s healthcare reform plans would impact America’s huge fiscal deficit. Government officials are using his Asian trip as an opportunity to ask the White House questions. Detailed questions." -Read more here.
Are the Chinese also racists teabaggers for asking the same questions about Nationalized ObamaCare and Cap and Trade and environmental Wackoism that Town Hall / Tea Party protesters asked? Or is the nation that is being asked to loan Obama the money to pay for this Obamascare finding common cause with everyday Americans who will, along with their children and grandchildren and their great grandchildren, be enslaved by this massive dept?
Dare I say it? God bless the communist Chinese for putting the breaks on American fascism!
"We will clasp any hand that is extended sincerely toward us, but
changes should be made in practice." Hmmm, that kind of sounds like:
"If they are willing to unclench their fist, they will find an extended
Gasp! Is this Hope & Change?
The Jerusalem Post is reporting that Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has called on the US to choose between Israel and Iran on Tuesday night, according to Iranian state media. Ahmadinejad said that for a real change in relations to take place, a choice must be made. The support of both Israel and Iran can't go hand in hand," he was quoted as saying by IRNA. "No change is made unless great choices are made."
Ahmadinejad is right and he is calling President Obama out! "Me or the Jews?" I know how that cowboy G.W. Bush would respond. Why can't I say the same about Barack Hussein Obama?
