I'm sorry I wasn't able to make it to this one. I really wanted to. We are the people that the government should be afraid of. Their jobs aren't safe anymore and I hope they know, that we are serious and we are coming for them.

    Lone Wolf

Would have loved to have been there. Looks like a lot of good people attended.

    Joyce

According to JS reporting (which actually surprised that they even gave the tea party a mention), about 3,000 strong attended. Was not able to make this one... unexpected work commitment kept me away.

    Dear James,

I am not a "fundamentalist Christian." But only a short viewing of the National Christian television networks convinces one that literal bible wording and hypothetical prophesy IS believed by much of their audience. In fact the concept of right and wrong is equated with a God vs. a Satan. It is real to many. In the vernacular all of us use images equating wrong with "going to the devil." I am not about to put words in Robertson's mouth. But your description of the reactions in Jamaica might equate to the vernacular use of "going to the devil?" Suddenly Robertson is criticized for being literal. Actually he used his comment in a broad remark suggesting a "wrong path" taken by Haiti--which might equate to our concept of a "pact with the devil or going to the devil."

WTMJ Channel 4, this morning, online, reporting on the Tea Party bonfire event, ended it's story with:

"It is a movement that doesn't appear to be going anywhere."

I wrote an email to TMJ-4 complaining of the 3rd-grade snotty comment.

This evening the story was found to be changed, the last line now reading:

"It is a movement that appears to be staying strong."

I have screen shots of the original and changed.

Here's the current "changed" version: http://www.todaystmj4.com/news/local/81903197.html

"But your description of the reactions in Jamaica might equate to the vernacular use of "going to the devil?" Suddenly Robertson is criticized for being literal. What Robertson was implying with his 'pact with the devil' comment is that Haiti is being punished by some 'god' for having followed the example of the French in the 1789 revolution for 'liberty, equality and fraternity' and fighting for their own independence from the then French oppression in 1804.

That what Jean Jaques Dessalines and the others who engineered the slave revolt in Haiti is any different from our own fight against the Red Coats for our Independence is at the best laughable. If that is the case, and Haiti made a pact with the devil, then with whom did we make our pact when we fought the British for our independence?

The independent Haiti, for years, had to pay reparation to France for having won the Haitian Revolution of 1804. This evil was sadly reinforced by the the rest of the Euripean community with an economic blockade against the Haitian people for years following. Hence one of the primary reasons for Haiti's perpetual impoverishness; coupled with the unending successions of dictator who helped to ravaged the country and the Haitain people.

That aside, I cannot understand how anyone who even has elementary knowledge of geography and geology would even ignore the principles of Plate tectonics and go as far as to ascribe a natural occurence of shift in continental plates to punishment from God.

As for the Jamaican reaction, I would prefer if they didn't start that 'Blessed country bit'. The Earthquake of 1692 which destroyed the entire city of Port Royal was as devastating, so too was the devastating Kingston earthquake of 1907, were those punishment from God on a 'Blessed' nation?

The practice of voodo in Haiti is really no different form that of Santeria, a psudeo religion of West African religous cult pratice mixed with Catholicism, practiced in the Dominican Republic and Cuba, and some other Spanish Speaking countries that had large African Slave population. Jamaicans have their own version of African black magic, mixed with Western religion, in their case Anglicanism, albeit not as widespread as say Haiti and the DR. They call it Obeah. I wouldn't be so high and mighty if I were them.

It was an amazing event. Absolutely worth freezing my feet off!!

    Joyce,

So why are you shutting me up? Who am I heckling here? I thought this was a place for all to state their opinion.
The conservative way uh?...I don't agree with you so shut up.

Pretty much like FOX News does not bring on anyone who has a different opinion to theirs. Oh I for got, when they do and that commentator/analyst begins to defend his/her position they miraculous pull the mic on him/her.

Pretty much like you all sit down and feign indifference when Pat Robertson and the Bull Dog on Oxycontin from Palm Beach utter their racist BS. But then sit and wait till some ignorant Hollywood has been spew some nonsense then you all try to equate the ignorance of Danny Glover to the bigoted and wilful evil comments of your conservative idol and the self proclaim God of you christian world. As if Danny Glover has the national platform and influence of Pat Robertson and Rush Limbaugh...You people are biased, and hypocritical and that is why I can't find your position on anything credible.

The same people who decry censorship of any kind talk BS about how BO is trying to take away individual freedom. Yet you are trying to silence me...Who woulda thunk it?

    LegioNofZioN

BiM no one here is defending Robertson, I'm a bible believing Christian and I don't accept his diagnosis. Our time to be judged is after this life, not during it as far as our Lord is concerned.

    BlackinMiami

    Legion,

The person who commented on the Jamaican response to the earthquake was simply trying to find some way to give credence to Pat Robertson's almost insame remarks. Those in Jamaica who think that Jamaica is such a blessed place are simply implying that Haiti is not, hence the 'punishment from God'. That is essentially the crooks of Pat Robertson's argumenmt and that is wrong.

Also, Jt and his conservative disciples never had a post on here immidiately dismissing Robertson or Limbaugh, or even days after they made their racist comments, but as soon as Danny Glover made some stupid, uninformed scientific garble, they are out seeking "Outrage Anyone?". As if to say that the statements of the former two are comparable to the lunacy of Glover's comment.

And now Joyce wants to shut me up for making my observations.

    James T.

Gosh BIM you are right. I see no problem with Limbaugh's actions... so I didn't have much to say...

I'm still wondering what he said that was so controversial? Pat Robertson on the other hand...

Check my latest post. I had to call in a specialist.

    Joyce

BinM. Legion is correct... no one is defending Robertson and yet you feel it your duty to rant on and on and on and on and on.

That's why I posted the link.

A discussion is healthy... being preached to as though we here are children is not.
