President Obama’s Address to Students Across America September 8, 2009 -
For those lefties who consider this an appropriate use of instruction time, ask yourself the question: how would you respond had President Bush ordered teachers to get students to ask themselves about what they can do to help the president?
Probably the same way you would respond to CheneyCare!

And I certainly don't want my children emulating these celebrities! Considering more and more homeschooling my children.

I was referring to these celebrities in "I Pledge Allegiance"-

I have linked this to as many people as I know on facebook who have children.
I urge every one to do the same.
There is a very good chance that many parents don't know about this or think it is no big deal.
So please get this to every one you know. I hope the majority of schools are empty on Sept. 8th.
If they are the silence will be so deafening that maybe the state run media will actually have to report it.
What will be the names they call us than? What new label will parents have bestowed upon them?
I have had enough of the BS. Every day we are getting closer to a confrontation.
When you start messing with people's children the gloves come off.

Oh James! Silly James. You know that those who HATE Bush don't have values...just hate. It's not same for all...just whatever they want at the time.

Holy brainwashing Batman. I am so glad my kids go to private schools. I like the part where it says to imagine the POTUS giving a speech to the children of the United States. I don't believe many children can imagine that because they do not know what a teleprompter is. The whole document is scary. I believe the Khmer Rouge used these same tactics and look how that turned out.

Tyne, if you do decide to homeschool, you won't regret it. :)
Posted by: hsgbdmama | September 02, 2009 at 05:43 PM
What I'm starting to hear more of is that parents who are calling their schools are either being told (a) they've received no direction from their school districts or (b) the school is *opting out.*
Let's hope that most schools choose to opt out.

Brew,
are you really trying to compare the President to Pol Pot and the Kmer Rouge? How far are you willing to take your paranoia? Some of you are beggining to sound like that pastor in Tempe Az.
I was a few months shy of my 2nd birthday when Carter had his ass handed to him by Ronald Reagan, but I know for sure Carter was no moderate Democrat, and I don't recall this kind of loathing aimed at him or at Roslyn Carter for that matter.
I was also around and sensible enough in the Clinton years to know that his admisnistration started out very liberal; and with all the hate the Right had for Hilary, no one called for their heads the way you seem to want the Obamas.
All of a sudden this man is single handedly leading America to hell in a waste basket. Where was all this uproar and concern when GW was blowing up the deficit? Are you just now realizing that your children's future is being bankrupted by the Federal Government? Did this just start 8 months ago?
I seriously think, looking at all those loonies at the healthcare rallies across the nation, and some of your comments on here, that a good portion of this disdain for the Obamas stems from racism.
Yes, call me racist, but before you do so prove otherwise.
Posted by: BlackinMiami | September 03, 2009 at 10:44 AM
BiM you are very sincere with your assessment and responses to each of the past administrations; however I do disagree with your charge of racism.
I disagree with the policies of Obama, not him as a person. I would disagree just as strongly if it were Reagan leading us down the road to dismantling America and the freedoms we have all enjoyed and prospered from.
When America ceases to be America, I will not be among those who need to say: " How did we get here [communist controlled state]" I'll know how we got to the miserable condition.
Posted by: Joyce | September 03, 2009 at 11:50 AM
Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country.
Gee, I wonder what commie bastard said that?
Retards.
If wingnuts couldn't say "but what if bush" would you all have anything to say?
It isn't racism... just idiocy that drives this dumb shit.
Posted by: LushUno | September 03, 2009 at 03:00 PM
So we have BinM dropping the race card and LushUno- dude, I don't even know what you were trying to say. You should proof read. And wash your mouth out while you are at it.
Apparently that is what passes for discourse from liberals.
BinM, I actually expect more from you. If you really believe that we are being racist, you simply do not understand the issues and should simply refrain from posting. You will have become like the folks who were all over James for his McCain comment. And you prevent us from really discussing the issues. You cry wolf (racism) so much that true racism is not going to be given the attention it deserves. Shame on you.
My suspicion is this appearance is motivated by politics rather than a pure desire to motivate the children. And James is spot on. If this were Bush doing this, the Daily Kos would be having this same discussion from the other side. Ultimately, I don't think he should be doing this. It is creepy for the president to be asking the country to support those in office. It sounds a little too much like the propaganda that preceded so many government strong armed take overs. Not that I believe that will happen, BinM. But when you add that to the cult of personality and some of the videos James posted during the campaign of teenagers, who were even in brown shirts, pledging their allegiance to BHO, it makes you wonder.
And what happened to it being patriotic in protesting what we don't agree with? Isn't that what Nancy Pelosi said?
Posted by: Cookers | September 03, 2009 at 10:55 PM
BiM,
You are right {or is that left}, it was unfair to use the Khmer Rouge analogy, I owe Pol Pot an apology. If you look into the past at communism, socialism, fascism, and all of the other crackpots, they also all shared one thing in common. They wanted "change". Thanks also for playing the race card. Being an American that is of Hispanic descent I really appreciate it. I've heard my share of wetback, beaner, and lazy jokes through out my life but never went home crying to my mommie. I can actually handle the POTUS as a person, I just don't suscribe to his ideas or care for the company he keeps. BiM, I've also considered that since I am a Hispanic from Milwaukee that maybe I should change my tag to "Brown in Milwaukee", on second thought I'll settle for "Born in Milwaukee" and be proud of it.
Posted by: Brew City Firefighter | September 04, 2009 at 01:55 AM
I like the way I threw a stone in the pig pen and the ones that got hit are squealing.
Brew, I live in Miami, there is nothing you can tell me about being Hispanic. As for freedom of speech, ask your Miami Cuban dissidents about that. The oppressed of yesterday becomes the oppressor of tomorrow. No one is more guilty of quelling freedom of expression than Miami's conservative exile Cuban community. They are more like Castro than they want to believe.
Cookers, you are yet to prove me wrong. I called neither of you a racist, neither did I play the 'conservative version' of the race card, by the way which you all stack everyday in the most subtle of fashion.
I want you all to tell me what is the issue when A pastor prays for the death of the POTUS. What issue is being discussed when congressmen are being attacked at health care rallies and the most the blatant racist sentiments are thrown all over the place. What issues are we talking about when someone at a health care rally gets up and said, she is not paying her tax dollars so MO can have aides. Tell me if any of that was ever said of any of our first ladies in the past.
I can respect Joyce's comment, because while she denies my charge of racism, she does acknowledge that the response to this administration is unmatched.
If you want to talk issues guys, lets have spirited debates. Lets not go out and create confusion, spread propaganda and then accused the other side of doing the same. Cookers, i expect more reason from you. You have always commanded my respect, even when we vehemently disagree. Lets get back there.
If you would only acknowledge that the fringe element of the modern conservative movement does more to hinder dialogue, then your arguments would hold some credibility,
Brew, when I started on this blog over a year ago, I just picked a name, just like I am sure you did, no real motive. But since you are ignorant enough to make assumptions about mine, then I will allow to wallow. I hate personal jabs, and I have respect for everyone's comment. I respond to people's comment, not attack their person. I suspect you cannot rise above the simple so stay there in the gutter, Sir.
My assessment of the angst towards the POTUS and First Lady for that matter, is yet to be proven wrong by you. The anger expressed towards this administration is unparalleled as frustration with Liberals go in this country. Say it ain't So Brew! That was the jist of my argument. And since I can see no other logical reason for such common disdain, when we have had in the past way more Liberal leaders, then I am wont to think that there is other more sinister motives....Racism being one.
You want to talk issue Brew, go ahead, do not attack me personally. You conservatives talk about issues, but much of what I read here are petty insults and name calling...
A more apt comparison to Pol Pot would be GW. After all have we ascertained yet how many thousand innocent Iraqis have been murdered?

bm you are a fool who is so poisoned from drinking from your cup of sorrow that your life is for naught because you live in the past.
You hold on to and perpetrate a racism that no longer exists. If you are waiting for the day every one is equal you will die with disappointment.
Because equal to you is wanting to have what others have worked long and hard for. People who have had to apply them selves to be able to climb the ladder of success in what ever field holds their interest.
Slavery ended long ago, you want to believe it is still going on.
Over 40 years of welfare programs food stamps child care money to further education companies being forced to hire a minorities (black, woman, hispanic's) whether they qualify for a job or not. Over 40 years of a giant helping hand given to people who society claims aren't being given the same opportunites,
What has changed? Actually a lot. But people like you will always be around to complain and say nothing has changed.
No matter how many programs free money and opportunities are put before people, they are the ones who have to take advantage and make it work.
At some point they have to let go of the hand that is helping and go it on their own.
There is no other Country in the world that has bent over backwards to try and give people a fair "CHANCE" do you get that?? Not a guarantee, just the tools need to get ahead.
Every one at some point must take responsibility for their own life.
When generations of families live off government and go no where the blame is on THEM. They have chosen the easy way out and spend their time moaning about what other people have. Be a man and put the blame on the people who deserve it.
And why are you still living in such a racist unfair Country? Why aren't you living where people are much better off and have better chances at a better life?
Yeah, it is easier to stay in America and cry racism for your whole life.
You will be a racist till the day you die.
what a joyless waste of your time on this earth.
Posted by: maddypie2 | September 04, 2009 at 04:45 AM
Maddypie,
I should not be having this conversation with you because one, all your blabber about me makes absolutely no sense, two, you don't know my background and three, you are accusing me of something that you yourself are guilty of.
How on earth you are able to deduce that I am a lazy bomb, a stupid, cool-aide drinking, uneducated, welfare dependent, section 8 racist, is beyond me. But I understand your collective mentality; You all like to ascribe greater than life qualities to people, just like you are doing with the POTUS. He is the single most destructive force America has had in its two hundred and thirty plus year history.
But to set the record straight I will tell you that I am none of the things you are accusing me of.
I am second generation American of very proud mixed-Jamaican heritage. I attended both top public and private universities, funded by me, my parents and scholarships. Neither I nor anyone in my family has ever had any form of public assistance. We work hard for what we have and growing up I was constantly reminded that i come from a proud line of people who do not rely on government, or anyone for that matter, for any kind of assistance. I am raising two children and I try to inculcate these values in them.
while I am cognizant of the fact that I am one of the more fortunate ones, I am not going to fool myself into believing that everyone has it like me. The level playing field of which you speak doesn't exist in America, because despite the fact
"no other Country in the world that has bent over backwards to try and give people a fair "CHANCE" ",
no other country on earth has the distinction of denying its own citizens the basic human rights that other members of the population took for granted, and for so long.
All of your psycho babble and stupid ranting, name calling makes no sense to me because you all are yet to prove to me that the current uproar in the country has more to do with the policies of BO, than your general dislike of the man.
Until you can answer that, until you are ready to talk issues and stop calling me racist, then rant on Maddypie2, rant on, like the raving lunatic you are.
Posted by: BlackinMiami | September 04, 2009 at 07:20 AM
Maddypie,
I thought we had a pact not to address each others comment on here. Can we go back to that?
Posted by: BlackinMiami | September 04, 2009 at 07:23 AM
BiM. Need to call you on this statement: "no other country on earth has the distinction of denying its own citizens the basic human rights that other members of the population took for granted, and for so long." REALLY?
It doesn't take a genius to come up with at least a half-dozen countries with abusive controls over some of its citizens, based mostly on ethnicity. Perhaps Iraq comes to mind? Others: China, Zimbabwe, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan... there are many more.
Please tell me you don't believe that America is systematically killing people of a certain ethnicity or race... as many of these countries have done to their citizens.
Posted by: Joyce | September 04, 2009 at 07:51 AM
bm I know nothing of a pact with you or any one else on this sight.
We both have the right to post what we want. I formed my opinion and comments from YOUR statements.
I have never envisioned you as one of the "generational give me a hand out for life" people. I just look at you as some one who needs to keep shouting "unfair unfair racism racism."
There is some thing missing inside of you that doesn't question why so many people(according to your count)are still so poorly off. You know bm you can lead a horse to water but you can't force him to drink.
And as Joyce mentioned if you think America is out to deny basic rights to its citizens you will never be able to see the error in your thinking.
You are comfortable with making American the big enemy.
Again I ask you what the hell are you doing living in this Country?
Posted by: maddypie2 | September 04, 2009 at 08:30 AM
BinM, you have clearly formed your opinion that there are racist undertones that run through this site. So why should I try to change your mind?
As a person who works in the area of science, it is virtually impossible to prove a negative. You ask me to prove that we are not racists? I will be happy to do that when you are able to prove to me that God does not exist.
That should keep you busy for a while.
BinM, I really hope we are able to dialogue on some issues. I appreciate your sharing who you are and what your background is. You are not who I would have guessed you to be.
To be honest, I do not like our president's policies. I am an unabashed, old shool, founding father believing, relgious, gun toting conservative. Why would I support anything BHO is offering up? He has done nothing to respect my beliefs and those of much of the country. My respect must be earned and instead we hear, "Get over it, we won." That is divisive. I cannot recall GW making anything like that sort of comment during his presidency.
So with that attitude, why should I offer him any support of any kind? Isn't he supposed to work for and represent me?
Posted by: Cookers | September 04, 2009 at 10:01 PM
bm has left the building.
i have called him a fool twice and now his feelings are hurt and he is sitting in front of his computer cursing me for being so evil and personally attacking him.
That is the "MO" of lunatic libs.
They can spend eight years saying the most outragous lies about a President. They can have their evil signs of protest splashed all over the news and say
"we have a constitutional right to say this."
What brings a lunatic lib to his knees is getting his own medicine forced down his throat.
They seem to think it isn't fair for us to do unto them as they have done to us.
Yeah I know, go figure that a lib would be stunned by this and yell
"unfair & racism."
