let me get this straight, if person #1 is in politics and person #2 is a different race and person 2 disagrees with 1 and is then #2 a racist? so does that mean Charlie Rangell, Maxine Waters, John Dingle, and Shelia Jackson Lee are racists for not agreeing with Bush? just asking. can't wait to podcast the show for tomorrow

Happenstance, I saw this earlier today. It is no where as good as hussein makes it sound.
That story also shows US kids are in school longer than many kids in other countries. But those longer hours aren't making them smarter.
They aren't learning jack sh*t here by bleeding heart liberal teachers and are so coddled, that the time they do spend in school is a waste.
I know that "test school" is claiming it is working but I have a video I think James may put up here and when you see it your high hopes for higher education and learning will be dashed.
hussein may want them in school longer but believe me it isn't because he wants them to learn 2+2=4.

john clement , I think you are on to some thing.
But on the bright side when the nuclear bombs are falling on our heads they will be falling on the heads of those racist bigots too.
And then God will decide who the real RACIST'S were.

Maddy,
I was being a little facetious. :P Well I ultimately agree that we need to rework schools, Obama's plan only addresses daycare-like side of it. It only addresses student side of school when reality is that there are very, very few qualified educators. It may be my own personal bias on this in a localized situation, but I was a tutor as a freshman in high school until my post-secondary career was closing. I taught mathematics whether it be simple grade school to hardened calculus. I could tell when a student walked in which teacher they had. Rarely did I get students with problems from some of the exceptional educators.
Tackling education is a two-prong assault: students and teachers. The focus needs to be on both side of the curve. Need to arm students with every available good, service, and tool. We need to increase qualifications on the people who present the goods and tools to these students. My belief with dealing 1 on 1 with students and getting their feedback is that they are very capable and often become causalities to the system rather than of their abilities.

Happenstabce,
Don't forget the role that parents ought to play in their chilldren's education. That's one of the sorest point in our public schools. Too often parents have forego their contribution to work that second job,but there has to be a balance. The findings about our position in relation to other secondary school aged kids are real. Especially in Science and Technology.
MaddyPie2...you are off the chain bias. You seem to have a direct line to President Obama, you always know hos next move. Keep on being a good Amrican, keep up your doomsday prophecy.

Happenstance, Sorry I didn't see where you were going. It was surprising to me because you are always on target.
bim, What chain?? Are you saying I am on a chain gang??lol I do find the choice of the word "chain" very telling.
Don't be giving me credit for being a prophet. I have nothing to do with the doom hussein and thug company are bringing upon Our Country.
It is not just the amount of info. that is out there bim. It is info. that is being played out as I type this.
The expression "where there is smoke there is fire" has never been more appropriate or true. You go ahead and view life through your own glasses. What is going to happen is coming either way.
Until then I am enjoying my life and my family and I will continue to enjoy this site that James so kindly provides for us.

Did you mean misinformation? Because that's all is provided on this site, and then you all take it to as the gospel according to St James. Enough with all this lie and misinformation. Like I said before, you people are the only ones who believe them. legitimate disagreement in policies I am down with anytime; blatant lies and misrepresentation another thing. That is so typical of Conservatives and then you project your evil, lying ways on Dems...
True Republicans and Independents all over the country are seeing things differently...In the mean time you and Lou Dobbs, and Rush and Hannity, and recovering druggie Glenn Beck can go on ranting. You are like the sower in the parable, your seeds are falling upon Rock. Shall bear no fruit.

BIM?
Working that second job? Working?
Wow, you shocked me on that one.
Here is Wisconsin, I interview my patients in the ER about thier job. Fortunately, my position has nothing to do with whether they pay, have insurance, etc. I ask about int in case they will need a work excuse, and it is based on thier diagnosis, etc.
All too often, I see people who are on 'disability'. With thier cell phones, nice clothes, etc. Sometimes I even ask why they they are disabled. they usually give some lame escuse about being bipolar, or have bad knees (when they walk fine, etc.)
Here is WI, the government handouts have gone WAY too far. NO incentive to excell, better themselves, etc. I've recently moved from Texas, and it wasn't quite this way there.
Anyways BIM, it's nice to see you talk about family values, and even having a work ethic.
Speaking of work ethics, did you see Joe the Plumbers shirt at the Milwaukee rally? It said 'Don't spread my wealth, spread my work ethic!'
With the things you have posted about James T., especially after his McCain rally fame, it is a wonder why he still lets you post here.
You know, even if you're left, far left, or what ever, YOU definitely owe James T. an apology for that post back in 10/08. You sir, (assuming you are male, than if not, ma'am) where WAY out of line.

BIM:
You claim that all you see on this site is "blatant lies and misrepresentations." I'm wondering if you can show me something that you've found to be a "blatant lie" on this site and be able to factually prove it to be a lie?
Regarding "misrepresentations", I believe that in the near past we've agreed that this is being done by both the left and right and I don't think it fair for you pull that card in a discussion. I don't find you to be a hyprocrite, as you usually stick to your arguments, but in this case you may want to admit that you are going back on things you've previously stated.

You are obviosuly not reading the posts on here and that is why you keep harping back to the post of 10/08. Like James has said on countless occasions, he and I have buried the hachet and have new found respect for each other. Now hasty words are said ,often on either side, so can we move on from there. My opinion, much like yours, is worth airing.
Now I see you are the kinda guy who likes to make assumptions. And you obviously assume that people on the left have warped family values, and poor work ethics, among everything else that is negative. You know nothing about me sir, and the more you assume, the more like an idiot you appear. Now I won't ask you to apologize for your assumptions because frankly I don't care. I'll just tell you that you have losers everywehere.
And as for Joe the Plumber, I usually don't pay much attention to self serving idiots. By the way, has he gotten that plumber license yet? But I see those are the kinda fools Conservatives like to put up as their role models. I feel sorry for your party because it cannot find a center. When the Likes of Sarah Palin and Joe the Plumber become the voice of the Republican party, then its time to start looking elsewhere for ideas.

While I understand what you are saying, and I agree parents need to be involved. I am focusing solely on the institution of school itself. Parents shouldn't be mutually exclusive, but parents can only become reflective and reactive to what happens during the school day.

You say something worthwhile in previous posts, then go off the deep end with misinformation and lies. You did this in another post about Joe the Plumber. I don't know why I even put up with this because even facing a steady amount of factual information discounting your argument, you won't change your opinion. But here is a write-up about JTP.
http://www.americanthinker.com/2009/08/his_name_is_joe_and_hes_a_plum.html
I just don't get this insistence that the left needs to paint people as dumb, fools, or other terms to serve their petty existence. It was one thing that really fed my fire to turn away from the left years ago and find refuge in my own center-right area. If your claims though are founded on misinformation and lies, I can understand why the ad hominem needs to be used. Present a red herring and forget about anything else and hope the media runs with it free of accountability. /Applause.
