this is truly scary, the implications of this bill are just .....
I never thought I would treasure my canadian health care so much. Ours could be run like how they want yours. We have problems, a lot of them, and our system doesn't work equally well for everyone. But if you all get this kind of care, I will be happy our side only went so far as to extend universal coverage.
We are reaching a point where we have to accept private investment and profit from our system or it will collapse. A two tier public private system is one I can be satisfied with. There are drawbacks to this system to be sure, but it addresses many of the problems we have now.

The truth of the matter is that some countries can sustain some form of single-payer and government run health care. Usually small, low population countries find some sucess, there are other exceptions of course.
For the US, I don't see this as a good idea. We need to be innovative in promoting legislation that removes restrictions to obtain health care while sewing up areas where there can be fraud and malpractice in insurance. I am not a supporter of health insurers, I may be one of those rare people that is conservative that just hates the health insurance industry. The current health insurance industry has many barriers in place to make cutting costs difficult.
