'Why Barack Obama represents American Catholics better than the pope does." -Newsweek
Say what?!?
So, if President Obama represents American Catholics better than the Pope... does that make the Chocolate Jesus the Chocolate Pontiff, too?
Good night!
Boy the state run media is
working over time this week. He is in Rome what else would you expect.
How better to take the attention off of a sick pig of a leader staring at the butt of a 16 year old and put it on some thing else.
It is ridiculous and people who aren't even Catholic can see that.
The best part for bo is that he doesn't run out of ass kisser's who try and elevate him like this.
He is just that humble guy trying to bring the world together.
My dear Catholics this is BS and will be over shadowed next week by a new article.
Probably along the lines of "poverty and sickness down 50% in Africa since obama visit.

When did the Onion start writing Newsweek stories? Or did the Onion take control of all the media outlets?

As a Trad Catholic, I feel a bit offended that she is wearing a Mantilla.

Obama goes to Notre Dame, religious right bitches at ND.
Obama goes to the Vatican, religious right... cannot compute

The people at Newsweek need to get checked in to KA (Kool-Aidics Anonymous).

More than the people at Newsweek are drinking cool-aid. I heard tonight while first explaining something the AMA is trying to sneak into the healthcare laws, and hearing how appauling that thing was to these people I had just told, "but wait they are going to give it to Obama, he can do no wrong." And they weren't be sarcastic. People have lost their minds. We can fact them to death and they will never care. They are brainwashed.

Sunday 4:00 AM God is looking down on the earth He created. Watching as all
creatures big and small
human and animal start to stir and meet the new day.
He has a slight smile on his face and wonders what wacky stories will be forced on His good people today.
He will welcome all to His places of Worship. Yes the true believers, the convenient believers
and the ones who want to change the Church to their own liking.
Nothing new here He says. Just like history of Country rhymes so does the proclamation of false
God's.
All in good time each man will meet his maker and answer for his own faults and weakness.
No teleprompters allowed.
Just a one on One with
The Creator.

Well.... Much as I hate to say it, Newsweek probably has it right. Our politicians are elected by the people to represent their views, so a majority of the denomination very well might agree with Mr. Obama. The Pope is charged with representing Christ on Earth, and presenting His views over any opinion pole, survey, or focus group. That Obama is closer to more Catholics than the Pope isn't so much an endorsement of Obama as a metric of how far we all are from being the Christ like figures we pray we will be.

Sadly, I think you pretty much nailed it, xranger.
This story is dreck, plain and simple. I find the ending sentence to be particularly offensive: "The pope has a lot to learn about Catholic politics in America. Barack Obama can teach him."
The world may change (and Lord knows BO and his minions are really working overtime at it), but God never changes. The inference that we need to "bring Christianity into the 21st century" is an afront to all true believers.

This is a response to the comment about the mantilla.
It is Vatican protocol to wear a mantilla for a papal audience.
If Mrs. Obama did not wear one and cover her arms, she would have offended the Vatican and the Italians.
BTW, Mrs. Laura Bush wore one too; see link.

di, Ever since I asked you if you were gay and explained why I asked, you have been posting some ultra unfunny and really stupid stuff.
Is this your way of saying "I'm not gay I'm just an idiot?"

I disagree with Townsend's screed: she wants Catholics to vote on doctrine. She wants "Catholic teaching" to be based on votes. That may be a lot of things, but it ain't Catholic.
Compliance to the authority of the Pope and bishops is the foundation of the Catholic Church. When we recite our creed, that "we believe in one, holy, catholic and apostolic church," it is a statement that reaffirms our trust in that authority.
I wonder why those who try to bend those beliefs feel the need to refer to themselves as Catholic? And, are they out there seeking to worship a false idol?

to Danny Inferno ...
HE THINKS HE'S BIGGER THAN JESUS!
that is the point ... he molds to the people instead of being the One True Salvation we have!
