This is a guest post. It first appeared in the comments to my post entitled Stop This! Legion has been a contributor to the National Conversation blog for quite some time. I love his commentary, and his insight. And yes, I am the Chocolate Captain America!
Enjoy.
For anyone following Marvel, they had a civil war with heroes fighting heroes over whether the government has the right to force them to comply with government regulations which require each to be unmasked to the government and paid by the government, etc. etc. Tony Stark Iron Man was on the pro-registration side, while Captain America was against it. Long story short, it ended when Cap gave up as he saw the public stop supporting his anti-registration heroes.
After the civil war, there was an invasion by shape changing aliens, and the guy who killed the alien leader was Normon Osborne of Spider-Man fame, aka the Green Goblin.
So Osborne is now a hero to many for fighting off this alien menace and they give him control of the big anti-terrorism, anti-supervillain organization called S.H.I.E.L.D.
This brings me to my ever so long point, the advertising for the new books has heroes at the feet of traditional villains like Osborne with a tag line that reads:
They won. You lost.
Eerily similar to the left now saying we won you lost. Notice the accept change tag as well. Evidently not everyone at Marvel is a lefty.
Awesome

We didn't win so much as you guys drowned in your own incompetence.

Hey You Guys!!!
Derek = Divisive

I wouldn't necessary name only incompetence but I agree with Derek. What? Did I just say that?
Seriously, I believe the 06 and 08 elections in particular bore out more conservative disgust with the RNP than liberal approval of the DNP. And I know there are some principled liberals who, like me, are completely fed up with the mediocrity offered by their party but vote for the poor candidates they run as a matter of he/she isn't as bad as the other one.
I'm sick and tired of being sick and tired of voting against the worse choice rather than voting for a good choice.
The system sucks. I believe we need more than two viable parties as that leaves them to stride for nothing more than not being the other guy. Talk about aiming low.
And don't even get me started on term limits and millionaires and special interests and pork again damn it!
Everyone have a safe and happy July 4th! We still live in the greatest nation on earth. We still have it better than the vast majority of the rest of the world. If you're a prayor, make especially sure to include the finest Americans serving away from home making such inconceivable sacrifices this week end. Without them and those that served before them, none of this would be possible!

Chocolate Captain America...lmao!

Wow, I must say that somebody (Danny & Derek) has found a new way to have a discussion of ideas and that is to insinuate from the Wisconsin Circuit Courts records whatever they deem to fancy about a person, and then run their mouths off with shotgun velocity about circumstances they know absolutely nothing about. All the while, hoping some of the crap they throw up on the wall sticks.
FYI: I've divorced three times in my life. Two of the three were because my bride decided to move on to greener pastures. The third wife was NOT a former student, and all three are still friendly to me.
The divorces were primarily caused by the countless hours I spent being a two sport head coach at a medium sized high school.
And my mid-life crisis has yet to happen. Now that's my story and I am sticking to it.
But here's the rub, for me. How do two hope and change compassionate liberals such as yourselves, deem this to be a civilized and MATURE way to have a discussion of ideas and beliefs.
Or is there really nothing behind all the smoke and mirror type blustering that the two of you engage in over and over again.
I find it a little offensive that you feel it necessary to try and drag my personal life into this, but your searching the web for items about me does show the sheer desperation of your arguments.
"If I can't refute the ideas being given, then I must defame the character of the other guy"
This is the mantra I have seen from the hopeful, compassionate liberals more and more as time goes by. Don't debate...... Defame.
But on the other hand, I must say I think I am doing a public service. By you trashing me like you have, at least somebody else is being left alone.
After all I have broad shoulders and a weak mind, so I can handle the pressure. And thanks for the plug for my school. I always like to advertise a good product.

And by the way, Mr. Inferno, the link name you put on the hyperlink to my picture on the school website is more than a little bit offensive to any adult in a serious discussion.
http://nationalconversation.typepad.com/the_national_conversation/2009/07/that-explains-it.html
You know the link where you ask the Barry Manilow question.
Yes the 10th comment down the page has a link name that is offensive, but that apparently is the standard operating procedure.
Don't debate, defame and denigrate. Way to show those compassionate, caring, liberal colors you are so proud of. Way to unite and not divide. Man, your parents must be so proud of their son.

Arnie, di is scum and derek is derek a self absorbed
"know it all" who will jump on di's band wagon.
I personally have not clicked on those sites and I won't. I don't feed into someone else's low life games. I will tell you that most have been ignoring di for months and he goes away to try and shock else where.
gnat never goes away. He needs the air on this site to breath.

James, thank you so much for posting this up there. I am humbled.
so as not just the resident Canadian but also the resident comic book geek, the analogy is delicious. change has come, we are asked to accept the Dark Reign of the Obama Goblin. the parallels between Obama and Osborne don't stop there. Osborne offers up transparency and acountability in his speeches, hitting every button the public wants to hear, yet privately the viewer is able to see this is just another machination, an attempt to further his own control. Obama wanst to glose Gitmo, Osborne closed the Negative zone prison unregistered heroes and villains dwelt in. Obama wants a parrallel domestic military volunteer force, Osborne created parallel Avengers, X-Men and a military force called H.A.M.M.E.R.
Osborne has deflected his negative actions with help of press co-operation, I don't need to tell you Obama has done the same.

arnie. I didn't bother looking at the links put up... I do not buy into any smear tactics of lefties.
You hit it right again, they do show their liberal colors (though I dislike using the term liberal about left-leaners because today's liberals have denigrated and changed the meaning of that term). A true liberal is open-minded... open to discussion for a sharing of new ideas and opinions. I don't see any of that from either D.
And, why would their parents be proud or have respect for them... judging from the way both have shown little respect for older people I'm guessing there's no respect for their own parents.
Thank you once again for your common sense posts.

DON'T TAR DEREK WITH MY POSTS
"Wow, I must say that somebody (Danny & Derek) has found a new way to have a discussion of ideas and that is to insinuate from the Wisconsin Circuit Courts records whatever they deem to fancy about a person, and then run their mouths off with shotgun velocity about circumstances they know absolutely nothing about. Somebody speculated (without actual knowledge) that you were a wonderful "salt of the earth" kind of guy, and I posited a more interesting (albeit somewhat lurid) scenario... meh, whatever... btw: I'm more of a libertarian than a liberal, not that facts matter to you.
"If I can't refute the ideas being given, then I must defame the character of the other guy"
I effectively refuted your silly tea bagger comment about "taxation without representation" ...not that facts matter when you have a chance to play the indignant martyr card.

@ Arnie
You're going all Mark Sanford on us.
I missed Danny's original post with the link to your pic. You just brought it to my attention which you probably don't want to do.
@ Danny
Wow.
Remind me not to ever, EVER, make you mad.

http://www.nytimes.com/2009/07/04/world/europe/04russia.html?_r=1&partner=rss&emc=rss
"The Russian government has agreed to let American troops and weapons bound for Afghanistan fly over Russian territory, officials on both sides said Friday. The arrangement will provide an important new corridor for the United States military as it escalates efforts to win the eight-year war."
This is just now happening? Put thinking people in office and things get done, imagine that. I can't name ONE concession the Bush admin got out of Russia. Even after all that Putin ass kissing Bush did.
Like I said, you guys drowned in your own incompetence. Want to know why there is no unity with me? Because I honestly have no respect for your opinions.
