I watched cable news for a little while. CNN wasn't really covering it. MSNBC and Fox News were being pretty brutal. But that's sort of expected. You have to have a clear reason for resigning and Palin failed to do that. So now we get a week of speculation.
The funny thing is that as muddled as Palin's explanation is, I believe every word of it because that's who Palin is. But that's not enough to satisfy media curiosity. And it damn sure won't be enough to keep the knives coming out from both sides. I know I keep mine sharp.

And the thing is, how do you NOT view this in the prism of the recent vanity fair article?
I think this comment from Andra Gillespie is very good:
"In light of this development, though, Todd Purdum’s Vanity Fair article seems less catty and more prescient"
And that's a pretty harsh article. That's not where you want the media going to to explain your behavior, but that's what the muddled press conference and timing of this statement gives you.

It gives me thoughts of "I'm suspending my campaign to go back to..."
Charles Krauthammer used the word erratic. (I never thought I would agree with Charles.) When Fox News is like WTF when it comes to a Republican darling, it's not looking good for you.
If anyone had thoughts of her running in 2012, forget about it.

In the words of Will Smith in Men in Black: "Hey Old Guys"
My words: WOOOO-HOOOO! She's the real American... No Phony. My money is on the smart woman. Why do you think God made women the mothers?

Or in palin's case, surrounded by yes-men that gas her up into thinking every move she makes is a good one.

Good one Joyce !!

THE BOTTOM LINE IS.....UH, THE BOTTOM LINE
Palin has the potential to bank $100,000,000 in three years. It's as if she's turning pro as a sophomore and going straight to the big (money) leagues. She's peaked as a politician and has nothing to gain by taking her gubnership to full term.

"It’s time to face the awful truth: the right-wing blogosphere’s reaction to Sarah Palin’s resignation has been disappointingly sane."
I wanted to see the same sort of crazy ass denial i saw during the campaign. Much more entertaining.

Wait a second, i take that back:
http://www.redstate.com/erick/2009/07/03/a-few-additional-and-hopefully-final-thoughts-on-sarah-palin/
"I’ve had this running thought all day, perhaps because I was watching it on TV in HD for the first time, that this is kind of like Ben Kenobi letting Darth Vader strike him down. Palin is not going to run in 2012, but by doing this she can now become Barack Obama’s worst nightmare, and help rebuild the opposition to Obama. How? Because were she to remain a 2012 contender, she’d keep having stories by anonymous McCain campaign staffers and other 2012 contenders going after her and her family. Take that ambition off the table and it neutralizes a lot of that. So she can focus on candidates and ideas without an ulterior motive focused on 2012."
LOL
That's almost as funny as his rant defending Mark Sanford's disappearance (which happened right before Sanford confessed to adultery).
As much as I dislike these people, I don't know what I'd do without them.

Gov. Mike Huckabee nailed it in his excellent interview regarding Gov. Palin: http://race42008.com/2009/07/03/huckabee-on-palin-resignation/
BTW: A blessed 4th of July to each of you. I am praying for our America.

Huck is good at being backhanded without seeming backhanded. Calling it a "Surprising and unusual" announcement... Talking about how much she's had to go through then slyly saying running for governor in Arkansas was rougher then national politics. Very slick. Can't piss off her base, but make sure you plant those seeds of doubt... He also spends a good portion of the interview talking about how similar he is to Palin. Like i said, very slick.
Sidenote, getting kinda tired of the complaints about how she's been treated though. Has she gone through even one tenth of the hazing Bush went through (and still goes through)? When they start making movies about Sarah Palin, then maybe I'll care. This is politics, it's not debate club. Playing the victim doesn't get you more votes.
And another sidenote, anyone find the irony of a guy decrying "elites" while speaking in received pronunciation completely hilarious? That's modern day conservatism in a nutshell.

Only bored neurotic people will spend their time trying to figure out and second guess what Sarah's true intentions are.
It will be entertaining to see the crazies on this site come up with their ideas. Then change their minds, then comment on another piece of media theory and change their minds again.
Get a life! At least save your twisted logic for her own sound bites.
Sarah has remarkable power.
It is being proved right here on this site.

Oh Happy Day!
Sarah is a whack job who's 15 mins were up 14 mins ago.
Look up Narcissistic Personality Disorder (NPD) and there you'll find a picture of this pig with lipstick. Is the the best you repugs have to offer? Spare me the love of country crap. This woman should have never left Alaska.

Sarah Palin, gotta love ya girl.
Just like I said the
"true whack jobs" are crawling out from underneath their rocks.
And the best part is they have nothing new or original to say.
Just old attacks from those who will never have any fame, 15 min. or otherwise.

Better to be happy with who and what you are, count your blessings and celebrate your independence. And, to remember why and how this nation came to be. Happy Independence Day!
I pray for the president and his family and all of our leaders. May they come to know and love America, and value all Americans.
We are not the bad guys, as O has repeatedly told the world. If those who truly believe that, why do you care to lead us? Negativity breeds contempt, and fosters hatred. Is there nothing the haters recognize that is good in America?

"Only bored neurotic people will spend their time trying to figure out and second guess what Sarah's true intentions are."
Yeah... they are called THE MEDIA.
The funny thing is that you people are the ones that help destroy her. Coming to her defense everytime she does something stupid, that doesn't help anyone.
This "your friends will understand and you enemies won't" BS isn't the way the world works. Because the vast majority of the world is populated by people that aren't either. And they DO need explanations. They DO need signs of an intelligent, forward thinking, non-petty, person. And yes, if you plan on running for president or governor, you owe them a lot... explanations at the very least.

"We are not the bad guys, as O has repeatedly told the world. If those who truly believe that, why do you care to lead us?"
Joyce, there is a difference between saying we are the bad guys, and admitting we have committed wrong acts.
Those who walk around as if they are perfect, never admitting wrong, have no humility.

This is beautiful right here:
http://www.politico.com/blogs/bensmith/0709/L_Murkowski_Deeply_disappointed_Palin_has_decided_to_abandon_the_state_.html
""I am deeply disappointed that the governor has decided to abandon the state and her constituents before her term has concluded," Murkowski said. "
Palin ruined her chances at beating Murkowski after she came back to Alaska anyways, but apparently Sen. Murkowski is taking no chances.
Ouch...
Like I said, the knives are out on both sides. Get off this "Media is attacking Palin" BS and join the real world. The feeding frenzy has only just begun. Politics is still the name of the game.

How sad that someone would choose to see everything through the lens of their own thinking, and so, even the kind, thoughtful & insightful words of Gov. Huckabee are interpreted as something else. Oh well. :) No problem for me. I'm grateful to have heard him for myself. See you.

He's a political rival, not Mr. Rogers (that role goes to bobby jindal).
You guys are so concerned about liberals that you don't even have any awareness of the traps your alleged friends set up for you.

Long video, but the boy Huck is definitely putting in the knife a little deeper. You can't watch that and tell me he's not being critical.
She will find no sanctuary. And you people do a poor job of even recognizing her most dangerous enemies.

Derek: your frequent posts reveal way far more about yourself than they do about anyone else of whom you attempt to insistently comment.
On this beautiful Sunday morning, perhaps you will take a deep breath, maybe even go worship if you can, and if you do, may you have a blessed day. I wish you well. Bye.
