Carrie Prejean took "topless" photos. Is this what the left considers topless or am I missing something? Well, clearly Miss Prejean is not pristine but does that mean that gays should now be allowed to marry?
Golly!
I guess the cost of answering a moral question correctly, even if you've made poor descions in the past, is to be stoned! There's liberal forgiveness for you and the gospel of moral relativism.
Let he who doesn't believe in "gay" marriage... die!
Thus saith the left.

Carrie Prejean is a great American hero & if you squint you can kinda make out an image of the Virgin Mary on her ass.

So now the semantics are over the word "topless?"
Remember tramp stamp barbie... teenage sexuality?
it's the culture, stupid.
"Well, clearly Miss Prejean is not pristine but does that mean that gays should now be allowed to marry?"
No, it means that Miss Prejean should stop telling me how christian she is and how her family raised her. Don't run behind your religion when you are talking about your legal/political beliefs. Because people are just going to hold a mirror up to you. And if you can't stand the reflection, then perhaps you need to change yourself.
Why do you guys think that Jesus reserved his biggest criticism for hypocrites?
Posted by: Derek | May 06, 2009 at 06:26 PM
I mean really. The christian position on same sex marriage isn't in the bible, because the bible isn't a tool for governing. It's not a tool for setting up civil institutions.
We have religious freedom in this country because we believe said freedom trumps our personal beliefs about false gods. Yet when we talk about same sex marriage, all of a sudden you want to pick up the bible and use it as a shield? Then you want to get mad when you get struck by lightening?

I clicked on this story just to see what Devil and Chocolate Man titties had to say. And as always their comments are completely ridiculous. (Now I'm done)
The liberals will crucify anyone who uses their amendment rights. This is just another example. Man didn't create Marriage, God did. God clearly states marriage is between a man and a woman. We live in a Christian nation, founded by Christian men and women. Messing with gay marriage is like messing with God. I realize some do not acknowledge God as God, some believe there are many Gods, and some call him by a different name, but He rules all of the people. Like it or not your in His house under His rule.

@Chocolate
Now that was funny as hell!

"God clearly states marriage is between a man and a woman."
He also clearly states that divorce is wrong. We don't make divorce illegal though.
Don't selectively hide behind your religion.
Posted by: Derek | May 06, 2009 at 08:01 PM
I am not. I never said Divorce was right. In fact I am I am very much against it. You attacked me like I said it was OK. Don't use irrelevant points. You have no ground to stand on in this argument, buddy.
Posted by: Dan Gehring | May 06, 2009 at 08:12 PM
Do you believe divorce should be illegal or not.
Posted by: Derek | May 06, 2009 at 08:15 PM
First off, we are not talking about divorce. Second, I do think It should be illegal. and In fact my religion Is against divorce. Do you believe animals should have the same rights as we do?
Posted by: Dan Gehring | May 06, 2009 at 08:25 PM
"First off, we are not talking about divorce."
We're talking about what the bible says about marriage.
"Second, I do think It should be illegal."
Good luck on that high horse.
"Do you believe animals should have the same rights as we do?"
No, but I believe gay people should.
Posted by: Derek | May 06, 2009 at 08:35 PM
I am not calling gays animals. I am asking you a question that has nothing to do with the topic, so you know what you do ever time you post something.
Posted by: Dan Gehring | May 06, 2009 at 08:41 PM
Gay/lesbian people do have the same rights as everyone else. They just don't have the right to make their version of marriage legal. It's common sense: Marriage is, ultimately, for procreation (I realize not everyone will have kids). Male + Male does not equal Kid. Male + Female does equal Kid. Anyone can do anything he/she wants (no matter how perverted) in the confines of their own private lives. Just don't ask that it be sanctioned by government/the courts. Gays have the same freedoms of everyone already (the pursuit of happiness). Why can't they just do their thing and not try to get society-at-large to approve of it? Just do it, and be happy.

Derek, I am old enough to remember the culture war over divorce, are you?
No, you are not.
Christians lost that battle and they will probably lose this one as well. Does that mean that morality is situational?
No. It means evil is winning, for now.
I don't see anyone selectively hiding behind religion. What I see is a Marxist (I like the way you disrespect the Bible in your post) trying to use Christianity against Christians.
"The christian position on same sex marriage isn't in the bible, because the bible isn't a tool for governing. It's not a tool for setting up civil institutions."
That has to be the stupidest thing I have seen you write on this blog.
OK, so Derek the brilliant has never read the Bible nor the writings of the founding fathers of the very country that gives him the freedom to spout his inanities.
Derek, you are deliciously delusional.

Amen!!!

"Derek, I am old enough to remember the culture war over divorce, are you?
No, you are not."
You lost abortion too, that doesn't stop you guys. You gave up on divorce because so many of these alleged culture warriors against divorce couldn't keep their own marriages together.
"That has to be the stupidest thing I have seen you write on this blog. "
So tell me, should we repeal the first amendment and ban all false gods? Should we lock up adulterers? Should we fine people that use God's name in vain? Should we ban blasphemy or heresy from being put in books?
This isn't a theocracy, never was. No matter how much you people want to pretend or how much you want to selectively apply your religion to american life. We are a country founded on freedom. The freedom to let you be as christian as you want. To let another guy be as atheist or as muslim or as jewish as he wants.
You guys are walking reactions masquerading as students of history and religion.

"Why can't they just do their thing and not try to get society-at-large to approve of it? Just do it, and be happy."
Because gay people can have kids. Contrary to popular belief there are more ways to get kids than from having sex with the person you are married to. Because gay people do have estates and other things that they may want to leave to their significant others but can't because they don't have a spousal exemption for the estate tax. I could go on and on with this.
But the fact remains, gay people need a stable institution for raising families just as much as straight people do. Because gay people do adopt. Gay people do have children, perhaps from other marriages, perhaps from a surrogate family. You may be against all that, but don't sit here and pretend you're not denying gays anything. That's just cowardly.

Yes, we have the freedom to do whatever we want, but that doesn't mean that others don't have the freedom to proclaim what is right and wrong, at the basic level of humanity. Animals do whatever they want, and it's call "animal instinct." Humans are not the same as animals--they (even atheists) have a soul and a spirit, so they have the capacity to rise above instinct. "If it feels, good, do it" is fine in your private life, but no one has has the right to make it a law.
Posted by: nosredna2 | May 06, 2009 at 09:11 PM
Derek, You are an enemy to religion. You think it is a joke. A hypocritical organization people turn to, to explain their problems. You just don't get it. It's that simple. You have no faith in God, so with that I say to you, enjoy your years of life on Earth, they are short. Turn to the Lord, and you shall have eternal life.
Posted by: Dan Gehring | May 06, 2009 at 09:12 PM
Well Derek, if you're positions are always the correct ones and everybody else is masquerading, why are you wasting your time here?
There's also nothing un-christian about posing for a racy photo.
Posted by: TerryN | May 06, 2009 at 09:17 PM
I commend Derek for hanging in here for as long as he has. It's puzzling, though, why he expends so much effort trying to get others here to see life the way he sees it. I doubt that anyone here has changed his world view as a result of Derek's arguments. However, it's good exercise for the others...for articulating their beliefs.

1 Corinthians 7, starting with verse 2
"But since there is so much immorality, each man should have his own wife, and each woman her own husband. The husband should fulfill his marital duty to the wife, and likewise the wife to her husband." 10" To the married I five this command (not I but the Lord): A wife must not separate from her husband...and a husband must not divorce his wife."
I think the rule for a marriage is pretty clear here, Derek. Also, the rule on divorce.

Nosredna, I for one love Derek being here... it forces me to delve deeper into the Bible, into the news, into history... without chuckleheads like him to push me to be a better conservative, I wouldn't bother with learning half the stuff that I have since I have found James' blog.
Thank-you Derek, for making me a better conservative!

Luke 6:37
“Judge not, and you will not be judged; condemn not, and you will not be condemned; forgive, and you will be forgiven; give, and it will be given to you."
@shmoog: Quoting scripture is such a slippery slope.
There is nothing wrong with not believing in gay marriage. There is something wrong with trying to legislate against it. Is there a basis besides the bible?

"There's also nothing un-christian about posing for a racy photo."
Huh? Christians for T&A!
Posted by: Patrick Austin | May 06, 2009 at 09:37 PM
Patrick,
Why do lefties always pull the "Judge not, and you will not be judged" out of their ass?
Dude! Read Matthew 7, all of it! Then lets talk.
