I think the "O" is starting to show signs of wear and tear. Today is the three week anniversary of our first "black" president, and I sense that the mood has darkened around his administration (pun intended). Truly, he is in over his head and now I think he knows it.
The boy bit off more than he could chew.
<Side Bar: I called my son "boy" in Jamaica once and nearly caused a riot! "Don't call him "boy," my angry Jamaican "brotha" barked at me. "Excuse me?" I said. "Is this your boy or my boy?" Anyway . . . end of Side Bar.>
Last week Obama even admitted that he had to get away from the seat of power, the White House. Not even Bill Clinton who sullied the joint ever said that!
Obama will get what he wants with this stimulus package (He doesn't care what it does, he just wants the damn thing passed!). Think about it, folks, in the few short years that Obama spent as the senator of Illinois (state senate as well as U.S. senate), he never really authored a bill nor shepherded one through to completion. Not once... all he did was tag along. Obama didn't author this bill either. David Obey and Nancy Pelosi did. Now President Obama is just the errand boy.
Bottom line, this stimulus bill is Obama's legacy. It's his baby, his name will be all over it and it will ruin him. There are not enough conservative Republicans in the House and Senate to save him from himself, like conservatives saved Bill Clinton in '93 when he wanted a measly $350 billion to stimulate the country.
He didn't get it.
My how times have changed. Or have they?

Maybe your conservative friends should have thought about that before running the country and the banking system in to the ground and putting the dems in this position?
Even if we had John McCain as president we would still be passing a fat stimulus bill right now. It would just have more defense spending and tax cuts and less direct spending.
Obama is not showing signs of wear and tear lol. Quit dreaming... In over his head? How do you just make this drama up? And since when does a president EVER write a bill?

DavidB what planet are you living on? Are you not aware of how the original fiscal mess began? No oversight of GSEs Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac... both parties are at fault. However, the Democrats Barney Frank, Chris Dodd, Maxine Waters, Chuck Schumer are the primary villians. They refused to listen to Bush Admin Secretarys, Frank saying, "...they are not endangering the fiscal health of this country." Go back and read transcripts of congressional hearings to find out the real truth.
You are correct, we would still have a stimulus under McCain... but I'm certain there would not be as much "oink-oink" intentionally hidden in the 600-plus pages.
Of course the O is not in over his head... he simply needs to keep following the scripted message. Campaign is over...get to work!
