Barack “Off the Record” Obama

I opened up the phone lines on last night’s radio edition of the National Conversation with this question: What can you tell me about Barack Obama? Who is this guy?

Crickets.

Usually dead air isn't good for talk radio, but yesterday it served a purpose. The American public does not know Barack Obama because Barack Obama doesn't want to be known. That’s what I believe.

If that’s the case, then the question is: Why? Here's what we do (don’t) know:

1. Occidental College records -- Not released
2. Columbia University records  -- Not released
3. Columbia Thesis paper -- 'not available'
4. Harvard College records -- Not released
5. Medical records -- Not released
6. Illinois State Senate schedule -- 'not available'
7. Law practice client list -- Not released
8. Certified Copy of original Birth certificate -- Not released
9. Harvard Law Review articles published -- None
10. University of Chicago scholarly articles -- None

I hate conspiracy theorists and their e-mail rants, however…Is there anyone out there who knows this man? Are there any cousins, nephews or nieces from his mom’s side of the family that can shed some light on this man’s background?

Where are his childhood friends, prep school chums, college buddies, frat brothers... Anybody?! This man is a closed book, despite his two best-selling autobiographies. (Autobiographies – or memoirs – by the way, allow people to dictate their personal history as they want it to be perceived.)

We know about W's grades and military service. We even know that Al Gore flunked out of divinity school. (Which qualified him to start his own environmental religion.) But who is Barack Obama? Seriously – this isn’t a slogan, it’s a genuine question.

And don’t point me to Wikipedia! I’m begging you. (Ha!) Give me some credible sources.

James, surely you can do better.

Even though your policy arguments were weak at best, they were better than this drivel.

Half of your 10 item list is related to his educational records. Unless you have absolutely no faith in what is supposedly one of our finest institutions of higher learning, I'd just give that to Obama.

Unless you think there is the possibility that Harvard allows idiots to serve as president of the Harvard Law Review, I think we can spot him credit that he was an exceptional student.

Questioning his academic record? Laughable.

Why do we have to "give that" to him? Why can't we know?

Like did B.O. earn his way on to the Harvard Review or was it an A.A. appointment?

Gosh, maybe if we could see Obama's transcripts, writings and grades... you wouldn't be laughing.

He hass written a book or 2 which he proclaims as his socialist ideals. Which he actually proclaims to back socialism. As an american who has defended the United States and Retired from the Armed Forces; I would hate to see this great country become the Socialist republic of america... I feel sorry for our current Armed Forces which take an oath to defend the constution of America and take the orders of the President of the United States. But then again maybe this is a legal loop hole where they can get out of there contracts if we do become the socialist country....

James, I'll concede that you don't have to "give that" to Obama, but when McCain graduated 894 out of 899, are academic credentials the arena in which you really want to debate? If so, I will join you in asking that Obama makes his academic records available.

Can I ask what will it prove though? Just curious.

Funny how conservative pundits have given up on all but bashing Obama....

I loved the nice little full 2 page color ad I recieved in the mail this weekend likening Obama to a terrorist. Wonderful campaigning there.... I used it as toilet paper. How sad.

Good question! Go ask Alice (Palmer) I say! Per Wikipedia "In 1994 Mel Reynolds, member of U.S. House of Representatives for Illinois's 2nd congressional district, was indicted for a sexual relationship with an underage campaign volunteer. Palmer filed for the Democratic nomination to his seat but finished third in a special election held November 1995, which was won by Jesse Jackson, Jr. She had, with a degree of formality that is disputed, anointed Barack Obama as her chosen successor in the State Senate, but after her defeat she filed to retain the Democratic nomination for the 13th District. (Here's where he screwed her. me) Obama was able, however, to successfully challenge enough signatures to disqualify not only the incumbent but the other three candidates for the Democratic nomination as well, which he won unopposed."

I watched a very interesting program on Frontline the other night which made me think of the question you asked. Who is this guy? I would say a phony, a fraud but mostly an opportunist who has skillfully slithered his way into America's top job, using and stepping on anyone he could.

Tom Daschle had the most telling statements (see Frontline (The Choice 2008) interview with Tom Daschle...

"For Barack Obama, you had a young person who had never been on the national scene, not even elected to the United States Senate (who got there by sticking it to Alice me), a state senator and an African American who spoke in a way that just electrified the crowd."
(Okay, he was a good speaker...)

"But I think it's also true that he seeks out people to whom and with whom he wants to affiliate. And I think that has been one of his strengths. He knows where to go for good advice and where to go for the kind of guidance you need as you maneuver these rocky shoals of political life, and he's done it very well." (Rev. Wright, etc.)

"the longer he's in Washington, the more history he has, and the more history he has, the more he's going to be explaining his votes and his actions and his statements and his positions that undermine his message. (Ah, now we know why he voted "present" so many times, and why all of his past documents are sealed.)

Barack was born to a white woman and black man. His father abandoned him and therefore, was raised by his white mother, stepfathers and grandmother. He looked black but did not experience what most black American's experience. He was traveling the world...
Maybe he felt like he didnt' fit in so he sought out the "black American experience" on the south side of Chicago. Learning about the culture and using his experience to advance his career. Does he really mean what he says or is he just saying it to get elected? Does he really care about this country or the people he pretends to represent? If we look at his record, what has he done for anyone, except himself.

My conclusion, he is an empty suit that can give a good speech. A man without an identity. A loner who uses people to get what he wants. He is using the democrates, he is using black Americans and anyone else he can, to get where he wants to go. There is no record of anything good that he has done for anyone.
