No Country for Old Friends

Images11 Wisconsin's own Democrat Senator Russ Feingold (who supports Obama but has collaborated with and is a friend of John McCain), says of the Presidential race:

"It appears the McCain people are so frustrated with Obama's star appeal, and their sense that he is harder to criticize, (that) they've made the judgment they have to somehow tarnish him, rough him up, so that he doesn't look so great - even at the risk of making (McCain) himself look not so great."

"I don't think it's very pretty. I hope it doesn't work. But I think they've made a professional judgment that in order to win, this is what they have to do," Feingold said.

Thank you, Russ. That was gentle and sweet; you're a good friend. The kind of friend bi-partisanship gets you.  Feingold backs Obama even though Obama spit in the face of McCain/Feingold (campaign finance reform) by going outside the system.

So much for reaching across the aisle.

At the time, Feingold said of Obama's finance flip flop, "This is not a good decision. While the current public financing system for the presidential primaries is broken, the system for the general election is not. The entire system must be updated."

Now all is forgiven. Now mega money in politics is no big deal. Now it's about how Obama is a star and McCain has to "rough him up." This is the kind of milk toast, two-faced politics that makes me want to vomit...

Compromising with the enemy at one's own expense.

But people are supposed to be open-minded! Be open-minded!

Ha.

Kudos for this line:

"The kind of friend bi-partisanship gets you."

Seriously? You think Russ Feingold should be backing a member fo the other party because they worked on legislation together? Give me a break. And as far as supporting Obama despite disagreeing on an issue? No one is in agreement with a politician on everything he does. Nothing you mentioned leads to the conclusion you draw.

Sharai,
You are right of course. Bi-partisanship is a farce.
Just ask Joe Lieberman.

It's hard(er) to criticize Obama? I think they're about equally easy and worthy at that of criticism?
