NASA scientists have announced that at least one of the giant lakes previously spied on Saturn's moon Titan contains liquid hydrocarbons - making it the "only body our solar system beyond Earth known to have liquid on its surface", as the agency puts it.
Wow!
The lakes were identified by the Cassini spacecraft, and although scientists couldn't be sure they were liquid, "their dark appearance in radar indicates smoothness and their other properties point to the presence of liquids".
Humm.....
Investigators further suspected these features would be filled with methane, ethane and other light hydrocarbons, but Titan's hazy atmosphere - 95 per cent nitrogen and five per cent ethane, methane and other hydrocarbons - made confirmation difficult.
Uhhh... Friends? Aren't these elements the bases of... oil? Is there oil on Saturn's moon Titan?
Looks like it, which begs the question: How did dinosaurs and other organic materials get on the surface of Titan?
In other words: OIL IS NOT A FOSSIL FUEL!
(That's two I told ya so's in one week!)
JT, this has bothered me for a long time. If you have ever seen a decomposed animal carcass what’s left is almost nothing, and I've never seen anything resembling oil in the pile of hair and bones and stuff. And even if oil somehow comes from that decomposing stuff, man it would take a really big pile of animals in one place decomposing at the same time to make even a little bit of one of our oil fields. So, If oil was created by our Creator not by decomposing dinosaurs, if global warming is really coming from the sun not from me driving my truck, if the disadvantaged should take responsibility for their situation and not count on government programs, and even if overweight people should obey the posted weight limit signs instead of suing the operator, what would be left for the Democrats political platform; social security, and the price of groceries? I causes me to wonder what else that we spend time arguing about is based upon other false assertions?

Wow, I cannot believe I actually read this. Reading comprehension is not one of your strong suits James, is it?
NASA has said nothing about oil being on a saturn moon. They have found some compounds, which happen to be SOME of the same compounds in natural gas.

Sorry James you failed the chemistry 101 quiz for this week and I don't even know where to begin with Ed's rambling stupidity.
If you’d like to know how oil is really formed I’d suggest you hit Wikipedia:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Petroleum
And if wiki is too “librul” for you, even ExxonMobil agrees:
http://www.exxonmobil.com/Corporate/Newsroom/Publications/c_gas_prices/c_crudeoil_ix.html
But don’t let all these facts get in way of whatever conclusion you already jumped to. I’m sure staying the course is still the right thing to do.

Thanks BretMichaelsPants,
Been there done that! And BE NICE! Uncle Ed is old, but he did say in a previous post that when lefties disagree, they personally attack people.
I of course told him that he was wrong... guess I'm stupid like that!

BMP,
I apologize for my apparently failed attempt at humor. My point; the point that JT has made in the past, is that we fall into the trap of discussing the topics our politicians are choosing. Are those topics “our” topics or the ones that each politician thinks he could win on? I bet there is a poll out there that asks Americans from all parties what are your top concerns. I also bet we would see keeping or finding a job, a safe place to live, education of our kids, rising prices, and our country’s relationship with the rest of the world near the top of the list. If the political discussions were focused on such things, we would be having real a debate instead of Socratical discussions. As to your opinion that I rambled and that I'm stupid, I thank my friend James for jumping in. I still believe that we can have discussions and disagreements without calling each other names, or impugning each others intelligence. I tried to make that very point at my friend JT's expense last week, for that I trust that I have been forgiven. As for rambling, that just comes with being old! Hey BMP ;)
